The technical device is installed in a patrol car of the DPS. The device allows for the detection of violations both in motion and at parking. It was provided to the agency as part of the implementation of the federal project "Road Safety".
— "Azimuth" is a recording device with sensors and a tablet, which displays all the information. The device records vehicles moving in traffic in real-time. It outputs information to the tablet, and the inspector can respond accordingly to this information, — said traffic police inspector Dmitry Belobokov.
If a vehicle is stolen, the driver violates traffic rules, or is wanted — all this data is instantly received on the tablet by the inspector.
— The device detects not only speed limit violations but also violations of parking rules, vehicle passing, and much more. Drivers should understand that their violations can be recorded automatically, and they will subsequently have to pay a fine. At the same time, I emphasize that there are no regulatory legal acts requiring to indicate on patrol cars that "Azimuth" devices are installed in them. Therefore, the driver will not be able to know whether a specific car has the device or not, — added the chief state inspector for road safety of the Sverdlovsk region Alexey Spiridonov.
He also emphasized that he cannot say how many cars have the devices installed. He also does not have information on how much each individual technical device costs, and how much money is needed in total to equip all traffic police cars.
