"There's a crook, but no victim." The Sverdlovsk police are searching for a blonde victim in a blue mink coat.
The Yekaterinburg police are appealing to citizens for help in finding a victim of fraud. The alleged accomplice has been detained.
The woman, who was involved in stealing money from victims at the direction of her handlers, was arrested by officers of the criminal investigation department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Sverdlovsk region, together with colleagues from the closed administrative-territorial formation Lesnoy, during the implementation of operational information.
Previously not convicted, a citizen named Lyudmila, originally from the Yadrinsky district of the Chuvash Republic, arrived from Kazan to Moscow, and from there to the Middle Urals with the aim of carrying out illegal courier activities. She left her home under the pretext of getting a good job. At home, she left her husband and two children, reported Valery Gorelykh, head of the press service of the Sverdlovsk Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
As investigators believe, in just the Moscow region, the detained woman is responsible for about 10 episodes, with elderly people being the victims.
In the closed administrative-territorial formation Lesnoy, the victim of the courier's employers was an 85-year-old former engineer. The criminals posed as representatives of law enforcement agencies and the Central Bank. Through a foreign messenger, they intimidated the grandfather with criminal prosecution, allegedly for financial assistance to Ukraine, and the pensioner brought his personal savings, about 2,080,000 rubles, to Yekaterinburg by taxi, where he handed it over to Lyudmila on the embankment of Rabochaya Molodezh.
The courier was caught at a crypto exchange while attempting to transfer several million rubles, stolen from another victim, to her employers. The victim was a woman in a blue fur coat with a hood. The Ministry of Internal Affairs representatives are looking for the affected woman.
"The victim's description: 40-50 years old, height 160-165 cm, shoulder-length light hair, dressed in blue jeans and light-colored uggs. She handed her money to Lyudmila on March 6 between 14:00 and 16:00 in Yekaterinburg on Sputnik Street, house 16/2. A criminal case has been initiated and is being investigated by the investigative department of the Lesnoy police regarding this incident. The police ask the affected citizen to respond and call the duty unit at: 8-34342-2-68-77," noted Colonel Gorelykh.
For some reason, she has not yet reported the incident to the police and does not know that the money has been seized and is waiting for its owner. As for Lyudmila, she has been arrested and is being held in custody in the Kirovgrad pre-trial detention center.
