Good mood. The Yekaterinburg resident Stadler's sentence for the shooting at the "Great Zlatoust" temple has been softened.
The Sverdlovsk Regional Court changed the sentence of Yekaterinburg resident Roman Stadler, who was convicted of hooliganism. In October 2023, he fired a gun near the "Great Zlatoust" temple in the center of the Ural capital.
A video of the shooting appeared on the Internet in the spring of 2025 and attracted the attention of the public and law enforcement agencies, the press service of the Sverdlovsk region courts reports. While at the "Great Zlatoust" temple, Yekaterinburg resident Roman Stadler "fired a shot into the air from an object resembling a pistol."
The case, initiated under paragraph "a" of part 1 of article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, was considered by the Lenin District Court of Yekaterinburg.
"In court, the defense insisted that the man's actions did not constitute a crime: he was in a good mood, fired, and immediately put away the weapon, not threatening anyone specifically. The lawyers emphasized that passersby did not feel fear.
The prosecution held a different position. In the indictment, Stadler's actions were qualified as a gross violation of public order, expressing clear disrespect for society and committed with the threat of violence," the press service of the regional courts stated.
The victim in the case was recognized as a motorist passing by at the moment of the shot. The man was frightened.
Based on the evidence presented, the court found Roman Stadler guilty and sentenced him to 2 years and 2 months in a settlement colony. Stadler's lawyer filed an appeal against the verdict. The Sverdlovsk Regional Court, having reviewed the case materials and heard the arguments of the appeal, changed the verdict of the first instance court, softening the punishment. He was sentenced to 2 years of forced labor with 15% withheld for the state's income.
