According to preliminary data from the traffic police, the driver of a UAZ vehicle was traveling along Wilhelm de Gennin Street from the direction of the Bypass towards Krasnolesya Street. At the green traffic light, he made a left turn onto Academician Vonsovsky Street but did not yield to oncoming traffic and collided with a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle that was going straight from the direction of Krasnolesya Street. As a result of the impact, the motorcycle driver—a 37-year-old man—died at the scene before medical personnel arrived.
According to the police, the UAZ vehicle was driven by a 64-year-old driver with 26 years of experience. He underwent a sobriety test, which was negative. He had previously been held administratively responsible once and was wearing a seatbelt. According to him, he did not see the motorcycle.
The Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was operated by a 37-year-old man with one year of driving experience. During this time, he had been held administratively responsible 25 times.
