Traffic in the city center of Yekaterinburg will be closed for several months.
Starting June 1, a major renovation of Pushkin Street in the center of Yekaterinburg will begin. During the work, traffic will be completely closed on the section from Lenin Avenue to Malyshev Street. The restrictions will be in effect until July 30, 2026. Property owners located in the work area have already been notified about the upcoming closure. This is reported by "Signal Ural."
The Yekaterinburg administration stated that access for special vehicles and cars will be organized on the closed territory according to approved lists. The reconstruction of Pushkin Street will be part of a project to create a unified pedestrian space in the city center. According to the city hall's plans, the existing four-lane road will be narrowed to two lanes, and the freed-up area will be landscaped. A park, bike paths, and pedestrian zones will be created here. For the greening of the area, which is about half a hectare, linden trees and shrubs are planned to be planted.
According to the documentation, the contractor must complete the work by the end of June 2027; however, city authorities expect to finish the main part of the reconstruction this year. After the update, Pushkin Street will become part of a pedestrian route that will connect the park on Popov, the Literary Quarter, the area near the "Kosmos" Cultural and Entertainment Center, and the Church on the Blood.
500 million rubles will be spent on the transformation of Vayner Street. The city hall will spend tens of millions of rubles on the improvement of the Yekaterinburg dendrarium. In Yekaterinburg, repairs on Tveritin Street will begin this summer. Nearly half a billion rubles will be spent on the renovation of Pushkin Street in Yekaterinburg.
