The sentence was handed down to former head of OP No. 2 Alexander Bannikov in Yekaterinburg.
In Yekaterinburg, the verdict was announced for the former head of the police department No. 2 (Kirovsky district) Alexander Bannikov. The former law enforcement officer is accused of exceeding his official powers and receiving a bribe for illegal actions or inaction.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Bannikov was detained shortly after the brutal beating of the director of the recreation center on Shartash "Golden Sands," Vasily Zhuykov, which occurred in December 2024. In February 2025, it was revealed that he had received a bribe of 100,000 rubles from those who beat Zhuykov, Vaja Gamoyan and Radji Djavoyan, reports "KP-Yekaterinburg."
Bannikov is charged with one episode under part 3 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Receiving a bribe by an official for illegal actions (inaction)" and 16 episodes under paragraph "e" of part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Exceeding official powers for selfish motives."
Alexander Bannikov was appointed head of police department No. 2 in April 2024.
After the brutal beating of the recreation center director, he removed the victim's explanations and the medical certificate of the injuries received from the inspection materials for a bribe. Subsequently, his subordinate issued a ruling to refuse to initiate a criminal case.
In addition, it was established that Bannikov appropriated bonuses for 15 employees, issued based on the results of work for 2024, totaling almost half a million rubles (457,000).
This was done under the pretext of distributing funds among officials from the leadership of OP No. 2, who at that time had disciplinary sanctions and were not entitled to receive bonuses, the prosecutor's office of the Sverdlovsk region reported.
The prosecution requested 12 years of imprisonment for the former police officer.
The Kirovsky District Court of Yekaterinburg found the defendant guilty on all counts and sentenced him to 7.5 years in a general regime colony, a fine of one million rubles, and stripped him of his rank. The damage to the police officers, whom Bannikov had robbed, will be compensated after the sale of the land plot owned by the convicted in the Shalinsky district.
