A new branch of UrFU has opened in China.

      The rector of UrFU, Ilya Obabkov, stated that the Institute of Intellectual Engineering, established in the Chinese city of Fuxin by the Ural Federal University (UrFU) and Liaoning Technical University (LNTU), will accept its first 240 students in September 2026.

      — We see the mission of the new institute as connecting the industrial ecosystems of the Urals and Northeast China. The main areas are mechanical engineering, new energy, artificial intelligence, and training modern managers, Obabkov is quoted by the EAN publication.

      According to him, the UrFU and LNTU institute will accept 360 students each year. They will be trained under the bachelor's and master's program "Technological Machines and Equipment," as well as three master's programs "Management," "Applied Mathematics," and "Information Systems and Technologies" in English.

      Young teachers from four institutes of UrFU will be involved in the work of the institute. They will travel to Fuxin in September to deliver three-week modules. Earlier, UrFU reported on the reasons students could be expelled.
