A fatal accident occurred on June 7 near the Ayat station in Nizhny Tagil. According to preliminary data, a Kia car driven by 20-year-old Ekaterina Ponomareva was traveling at a speed of about 140 km/h, after which it veered off the road and overturned.
As reported by "KP-Ekaterinburg," a 19-year-old passenger, Anastasia Khasanova, died as a result of the accident. The girl died at the scene from her injuries. Another passenger, 20-year-old Danil from Sredneuralsk, sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized at the Nevyansk Central District Hospital.
According to the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Sverdlovsk region, none of the occupants in the car were wearing seatbelts. After the accident, the driver refused to undergo a medical examination for intoxication. An administrative case has been initiated against the girl. For refusing the examination, she faces the revocation of her driver's license and a fine of 30,000 rubles.
The police also reported that the driver had previously been held administratively responsible 14 times for traffic violations. An investigation is currently underway, which may lead to a criminal case under Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The maximum penalty under this article provides for up to three years of imprisonment.
