The building had been in an emergency state for many years. It has not been in use since 2006, its foundation was flooded, the brickwork was partially destroyed, and the internal ceilings were lost. In 2021, the property with the land plot was purchased for 40.1 million rubles by hockey player and entrepreneur Pavel Datsyuk. He announced plans for the restoration of the architectural monument and the creation of a hotel within it.
It was previously reported that millions of rubles would be allocated in Yekaterinburg for the repair of the entrance stele to the city.
