Migrants may be banned from working in public transport in Yekaterinburg after the accident on March 8.
In Yekaterinburg, the work of foreign drivers in the passenger transport sector may be restricted. The relevant document will be reviewed by the government of the Sverdlovsk region in the coming month. This was reported by "Channel Four."
The possibility of changes was announced by Alexander Porubenko, the deputy head of the supervisory activities department of the regional traffic police, at a working meeting in the city’s traffic police with the participation of carriers, heads of transport enterprises, representatives of the regional traffic police, and the administration of Yekaterinburg.
According to Porubenko, it is proposed to prohibit the hiring of certain categories of foreign citizens for regular and ordered passenger transport, as well as the transportation of hazardous goods.
— Such legislative measures have already been adopted in a number of subjects of the Russian Federation, he noted.
One of the main topics of the meeting was ensuring the safety of passenger transport. Participants discussed drivers' compliance with traffic rules, control of vehicle release to the line, working and rest hours of employees, conducting pre-trip medical examinations, and the technical condition of buses.
Special attention was paid to analyzing high-profile traffic accidents involving public transport, including the accident that occurred on June 10 at the intersection of 8 Marta and Malysheva streets in the center of Yekaterinburg. As a result of the collision, four people died — two women, a man, and a child.
