"Plainclothes inspectors revealed the initial results of covert inspections of buses in Yekaterinburg."
Traffic police officers conducted covert checks on city buses. Posing as ordinary passengers, they recorded violations committed by drivers while driving, reported the propaganda department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of Yekaterinburg on Tuesday.
In just a couple of hours of covert monitoring, traffic inspectors identified 9 violations of traffic rules:
2 drivers were not wearing seat belts (charged under Article 12.6 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation);
5 drivers set out on their routes with technical malfunctions of their vehicles (charged under part 1 of Article 12.5 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation);
1 driver operated a vehicle without the documents required by traffic rules (charged under part 2 of Article 12.3 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation);
1 driver was using a phone while driving (charged under part 1 of Article 12.36 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation).
The safety of passenger transport remains under special control, noted the State Traffic Inspectorate.
It should be noted that preventive work with carriers was intensified after the tragedy that occurred on the evening of June 10 at the intersection of 8 Marta and Malysheva streets in Yekaterinburg. The driver of a route bus entered the intersection on a red traffic light and, losing control, after colliding with a passenger car, flew onto the sidewalk where pedestrians were present at that moment.
Three adults and a 9-year-old child died at the scene. Three injured individuals were hospitalized. The bus driver, a 48-year-old foreign citizen, explained to inspectors that after he suddenly had a severe headache, he likely confused the gas and brake pedals. The direct perpetrator of the accident and his supervisor, the director of the transport company "Avto-Nom," were taken into custody until August 10 by the decision of the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg.
