On June 20, 2026, the head of Yekaterinburg, Alexey Orlov, approved the planning project for the territory of the former "Uralmash" factory. After several months of discussions and hundreds of proposals from residents advocating for the preservation of the industrial heritage of the enterprise, the project has moved to the next stage of implementation.
As reported by "Signal Ural," a new residential area with a total area of 1.46 million square meters is planned to be built on the territory of almost 117 hectares. More than 12,800 parking spaces, schools, kindergartens, four clinics, two libraries, and sports facilities will be established here. Additionally, about 1.2 kilometers of tram tracks will be laid in the area.
The project provides for the creation of at least 5,000 school places and 3,000 places in additional education institutions. To ensure the future quarter with engineering infrastructure, modernization of the water supply system, reconstruction of two substations, and distribution networks will be required.
The implementation of the large-scale construction is expected to take a long time. By 2030, it is planned to complete only the architectural and construction design on most of the territory, while the construction of the second phase of facilities will last until 2035-2040.
