Firefighters rescued a cat from a burning house in the Sysert district, reported the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Sverdlovsk region.
"Real heroism was shown by the employees of the 113th fire and rescue unit, saving not only property but also the life of a four-legged friend. In the village of Borodulino (SNT 'Nadezhda'), firefighters carried out a cat named Nyusya from the burning garden house," the press service of the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
The report of the fire in the garden house was received by the unit on Friday afternoon, June 26. By the time the fire and rescue units arrived, the roof and the second floor of the building were on fire over an area of 200 square meters.
Firefighters immediately began reconnaissance and extinguishing the burning building.
"Making their way through thick smoke and flames, firefighters found a frightened cat in the house. Nyusya was in critical condition - the animal had stopped breathing due to inhaling toxic combustion products," the press service of the agency reports.
Firefighters carried the pet to fresh air and immediately began resuscitation efforts. With the help of a breathing apparatus mask, rescuers literally brought the cat back from the dead - Nyusya took her first breaths and opened her eyes. The cat was handed over to a family friend.
"A cat or a dog is not just an animal, but a full-fledged member of the family, and its loss becomes a real tragedy," noted the rescue agency.
The fire was promptly extinguished, and its spread was prevented.
