A pile of cut logs was discovered in the upper reaches of the river in Nizhnie Sergi after the flood.
A pile of cut logs was discovered in the upper reaches of the river in Nizhnie Sergi after the flood on July 2, 2026. A large pile of logs was found after the flood receded in the upper reaches of the Zastavka River in Nizhnie Sergi. This was reported by the public group "Heard in Nizhnie Sergi."
On Wednesday, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations from Mikhailovsk and Nizhnie Sergi, air forest protection, and several local residents with a small tractor were engaged in clearing the pile, the community reported on VKontakte. They needed help with labor, electric saws, and food for the workers.
"It is very important to feed the guys from the Ministry of Emergency Situations. They are tired but continue to clear the pile, which could cause even worse flooding," the post's author wrote the day before.
The pile formed in a lowland, which can only be accessed on foot via a path from two streets, including the long-suffering Zhukov Street.
In the comments, one user suggested that the logs were discarded after logging. "They took out the good timber and left the tops. That's how it got washed up."
Recall that on June 29, in Nizhnie Sergi, as a result of heavy rains, the Zastavka and Serga rivers overflowed their banks and rushed through the streets of the city. The Nizhneserginsky district, along with the first Urals city of Bilyimba, became an area of the most severe flooding.
Local residents are outraged by the fact that Nizhnie Sergi is experiencing its second severe flood in 6 years, which, in people's opinion, indicates that the causes of the disaster have not been addressed.
"The same situation occurred in 2020 - it also flooded on Zhukov Street. And what has the local administration done in 6 years? NOTHING. The banks were not reinforced, the riverbed was not cleared, and storm drains were not built," the post in the group "Heard in Nizhnie Sergi" states.
