The graffiti "City of Demons" by a long-time participant of "Stenography" has appeared in Yekaterinburg.
The art object "City of Demons" by long-time participant of the street art festival "Stenografiya," Yekaterinburg artist Sergey Akramov, has appeared on the embankment of the city pond in the center of Yekaterinburg, reports 66.RU.
The graffiti was noticed by a photo correspondent from 66.RU on the outer wall of the observation deck. The author explained the meaning of his new work in an interview published on the StreetartEKB website in early June, when it was still in the conceptual stage.
The graffiti is a reference to the stickers that appeared on the streets of Yekaterinburg after the events in the square in May 2019, when residents of the city gathered en masse on Oktyabrskaya Square, protesting against the construction in the square opposite the Drama Theater.
"The effect of torn paper will mean that Yekaterinburg is no longer a city of demons. Times have changed," explained Akramov, who has previously used the "torn paper effect" in his work. His other work, "Youth," near the Palace of Youth, and many others are done in this style. According to the artist, he is inspired by "torn posters and announcements."
In the opinion of a correspondent from Uralweb.ru, the graffiti also resembles a scratch sticker that needs to be rubbed with something to reveal its content beneath the metallic layer.
Earlier, Sergey gifted Yekaterinburg a mural in Kharitonovsky Park as part of the "Stenografiya" festival. He has participated in "Stenografiya" six times, first in 2011. He was also a participant in the underground "Carte Blanche" in 2019.
