According to the mayor, the development of railway communication remains one of the priorities for the Yekaterinburg agglomeration. In the future, such routes should connect the regional center with satellite cities.

Preparation for the implementation of the project has been actively underway since 2023. Construction was planned to begin in 2025, but the project did not make it into the investment program of Russian Railways, which is why the deadlines had to be postponed.
