New serious restrictions for scooter riders are being prepared in Yekaterinburg.
The authorities of Yekaterinburg intend to tighten the rules for the operation of kick-sharing services. Among the proposed measures are mandatory user identification, a reduction in the number of rental electric scooters, and increased control over their parking. This was reported by the city head Alexey Orlov in an open studio of "Channel 4" at the international industrial exhibition "Innoprom."
According to the mayor, one of the key innovations will be mandatory user authorization in the mobile applications of kick-sharing services. Several identification options are being considered, including through the "Gosuslugi" portal or Max ID. This measure, according to Orlov, should limit access to the service for minors.
Another point of the new agreement with kick-sharing operators will be systematic data exchange between companies and the city administration. This will allow for more effective monitoring of compliance with electric scooter parking rules.
In addition, the city hall is considering the possibility of limiting the maximum number of rental personal mobility devices (PMDs) on the streets of Yekaterinburg. If an operator violates the terms of the agreement, some of their scooters may be taken out of service.
At the same time, the city authorities are not considering a complete ban on electric scooters. According to Alexey Orlov, this mode of transport remains in demand among residents, especially in light of the situation with fuel supplies.
