10 new "Castor" trams have arrived in Yekaterinburg.
The first ten trams of model 71-639 produced by the Ust-Katav Carriage Works were accepted today at the Western Tram Depot by the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Denis Pasler and the First Deputy Mayor Rustam Galyamov.
"Such a volume of equipment was last purchased more than forty years ago," commented Denis Pasler.
Yekaterinburg received the new trams under a contract with Sberbank Leasing: the city budget will pay for them in installments until the end of 2033. Each tram can accommodate 261 passengers.
Another 20 such trams are expected in September, and the remaining 30 should arrive by the New Year. The new trams will operate on routes No. 16 and No. 13.
