Six train cars derailed on the Sverdlovsk railway due to soil erosion.
In the Perm region, on the night of July 16, five loaded hopper cars and the locomotive of freight train No. 2314 derailed on the section between Kisherte and Shumkovo of the Sverdlovsk railway. According to preliminary information, the cause of the incident was a local washout of the embankment. As a result of the incident, no one was injured. The movement of passenger and freight trains in both directions has been temporarily suspended until the emergency recovery work is completed. There is no threat to environmental safety. Specialists are assessing the condition of the railway infrastructure and rolling stock at the site. Specialized equipment has been deployed to eliminate the consequences of the accident.
The Perm transport prosecutor's office has organized an inspection regarding the incident. Trains No. 72 "Saint Petersburg - Yekaterinburg," No. 2 "Moscow - Vladivostok," and No. 802 "Perm - Yekaterinburg" will now travel through the stations Chusovskaya and Nizhny Tagil, returning to the main route at the Yekaterinburg station. Passengers whose transport has been delayed for more than 4 hours will be provided with meals at the Yekaterinburg, Perm, and Shuvakish stations.
