Residents of an entire district in Nizhny Tagil endured hellish heat for 4 days without cold water.

      Residents of the Dzerzhinsky district of Nizhny Tagil were left without cold water for 4 days in unbearable heat, reports v-tagile.ru.

      Tagil residents still do not understand how the city administration approved a large-scale shutdown of cold water during a period of abnormal heat. "Vodokanal-NT," for its part, disrupted the initial schedules for restoring water supply (which did not account for the actual time needed to fill the reservoirs).

As previously informed to residents by LLC "Vodokanal-NT," the restrictions were supposed to last three days: from 06:00 on July 24 (Friday) to 23:59 on July 26 (Sunday). However, by the start of the new work week, water had not appeared in the taps. Cold water was only provided on the night of Tuesday, July 28, but using it for drinking and washing is very difficult, reports the portal.

      A live broadcast explaining the situation was held by the director of LLC "Vodokanal-NT," Vyacheslav Taran. Under his post, residents left numerous comments complaining about the quality of the water that flowed from their taps after the prolonged shutdown. On social media, residents of Galyanka and Vagonka shared footage showing "yellow-brown murky sludge with a chemical and putrid smell" coming from their taps.

      However, during the cold water shutdown, scalding hot water was running, which could not be diluted, people report. In response to users' pleas to lower the temperature of the hot water supply, officials on Pinaev's page replied that they do not have the right to do so, otherwise, it would violate sanitary regulations.

      The reason for the cold water shutdown was cited as the stoppage of the Chernoyistochinsky hydro junction. Conducting repair work, as stated by "Vodokanal-NT," would be impossible without a complete shutdown of the water treatment facilities. The resource supply organization emphasized that these activities were coordinated with the city administration.
