The Sverdlovsk Regional Court has recognized the arrest of the businessman who beat the agrarian scientist as lawful.

      The Sverdlovsk Regional Court has recognized the arrest of Alexander Reveruk, accused of beating an elderly scientist from the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as lawful, reports the press service of the regional courts. The ruling of the Oktyabrsky District Court of Yekaterinburg to remand the man in custody was appealed by the defense.

      The Sverdlovsk Regional Court reviewed the case materials, heard the arguments of the accused, the defense attorney, and the prosecutor. Reveruk's lawyer requested that a preventive measure not related to detention be chosen for his client.

      As a result of the court session, the ruling of the Oktyabrsky District Court of Yekaterinburg dated July 30, 2026, regarding the arrest of the accused was left unchanged, and the appeal was denied.

      By the ruling of the first instance court, Reveruk has been placed in custody until September 26 inclusive. It was previously reported that the lawyer of the second accused, Arkadiy Wagner, intended to file an appeal against the arrest decision. The first instance court sent him to a pre-trial detention center the day after Reveruk's arrest. Both defendants are charged under Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism committed by a group of individuals).
