A resident of Sverdlovsk nearly died after being bitten by a spider on the balcony.
A 58-year-old resident of Yekaterinburg ended up in intensive care after being bitten by a spider on his own balcony. The man developed a severe allergic reaction that quickly escalated into anaphylactic shock.
After the bite, the city dweller rapidly began to experience swelling, had breathing difficulties, and his blood pressure dropped sharply. Arriving medics provided the necessary assistance and transported the patient to the Central City Clinical Hospital No. 24.
Doctors in the emergency department, intensive care unit, and therapeutic department promptly conducted treatment. The man's condition was stabilized with the help of adrenaline and hormonal medications. He is currently continuing treatment and recovering.
Medics remind that after an insect bite, it is important to closely monitor one's health. Increasing swelling, dizziness, nausea, widespread rash, and difficulty breathing may indicate the development of a severe allergic reaction.
If such symptoms appear, it is necessary to call an ambulance as soon as possible. Before the medics arrive, a cold compress can be applied to the bite site in case of a pronounced local reaction.
