In Yekaterinburg, law enforcement officers detained a suspect in a robbery attack on a store employee. The attacker used a bottle of vodka as the weapon, the media relations department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Yekaterinburg reported on Friday.
The robbery of the employee of a retail outlet located across from the house at 10 Danilina Street (according to open sources, the store at this address is "Magnit" - note from Uralweb.ru) occurred on Monday, August 10, around 3:00 PM.
An unknown person, threatening to use the bottle of vodka as a weapon, stole both the alcohol and a non-alcoholic beverage. The amount of damage caused to the store was 753 rubles.
Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department of Police Station No. 9 identified and detained the suspect, a local resident born in 1994, who had previously been convicted of theft and unlawful possession of a vehicle. In the police department, the man made a confession.
He explained that on that day he was celebrating his birthday, and at some point, he ran out of drinks, so he decided to go to the nearest store for a refill, but he had no money.
A criminal case has been initiated under part 2 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Robbery"). The suspect faces up to ten years in prison. The suspect is currently detained under Article 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation, and a decision is being made regarding the choice of a preventive measure.
