"It is a great honor for us to host this prestigious tournament. Today, the best climbers from our vast country have gathered in Yekaterinburg. For the Ural capital, this is also a special sport. We are proud of our history of climbing development," said Alexey Orlov.
The competitions are taking place at the Palace of Sports (DIVS).
The Spartakiad of the Peoples of Russia is being held on the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. Leading athletes from the national teams - winners and medalists of Russian championships and international tournaments - are participating in the competitions. The program includes Olympic summer sports and the national sport - sambo.
