Employees of the Sverdlovsk State Traffic Inspectorate are establishing the circumstances of a traffic accident involving a deceased pedestrian that occurred last evening, August 19, at 22:35 on the 3rd kilometer of the road "Pgt. Pyshma - D. Nagibina."
According to preliminary data, a 51-year-old local man, driving a Gazelle vehicle for work purposes from the direction of the settlement of Pyshma towards the village of Nagibina, did not notice a pedestrian on the roadway in a timely manner on an unlit section and hit him. The pedestrian, a 47-year-old resident of the village of Kochevka, died from his injuries before the ambulance crew arrived.
It has been preliminarily established that the pedestrian was moving along the edge of the roadway in violation of the rules: in the same direction and without reflective elements on his clothing.
The driver was sober. The man, who has 17 years of driving experience, explained to the traffic inspectors that he noticed a strange silhouette on the roadway at the last moment, after which he struck the right side of the cabin.
Traffic inspectors compiled administrative materials against the driver under part 2 of article 12.31.1 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (for not undergoing pre-trip medical control by a medical worker and mechanic), as well as under part 1 of article 12.5 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (for the presence of malfunctions, namely the installation of different tires on one axle) and under part 1 of article 12.5.1 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (for not undergoing technical inspection).
An investigation into the traffic accident is underway, and all circumstances of the incident are being clarified.
The State Traffic Inspectorate of the Sverdlovsk Region reminds: at night, the risk of hitting a pedestrian increases significantly, especially outside populated areas where there is no lighting.
Pedestrians need to make themselves visible with reflective elements, and drivers, in conditions of insufficient visibility, should reduce their speed in advance to be able to stop in time.
