In Yekaterinburg, a developer is seeking the right to demolish a building of an Old Believer church built in the early 19th century on Rosa Luxemburg Street, 75. The building hinders him from completing a new residential complex, reports "Channel 4."
Previously, a tuberculosis dispensary operated in the building of the Holy Trinity Old Believer Church for many years, and a fire occurred in 2019. As a result, the building is in an emergency state in an area of active modern construction.
The developer demands the building be demolished to expand the residential complex. The compensation of 50 million rubles offered to them is considered insufficient by the Old Believers.
"My task is to finish the residential complex. All these buildings are doomed; there was a bacteriological center there, they need to be demolished, disposed of, and filled with concrete," the representative of the construction business stated, as reported by "Channel 4."
In 2008, the developer committed to relocating the Holy Trinity Church and even built a building for it, but the community refuses to move into it and is cramped in a small chapel on Shkolnikov Street, 1 in the VIZ district, according to "Channel 4."
According to the rector of the Old Believer Church in the name of the Nativity of Christ, Pavel Zyryanov, their community has more than a thousand believers, and the current premises in VIZ, the only one in all of Yekaterinburg, are insufficient for such a number of parishioners.
