In the Sverdlovsk region, a "dry law" will be introduced in a week.
Starting from September 1, the rules for alcohol sales in the Sverdlovsk region will change. Amendments to the regional law, signed by Governor Denis Pasler at the end of April, introduce new time restrictions and additional days of a complete ban on the sale of alcoholic beverages.
Now, alcohol can be purchased in stores from 09:00 to 22:00. Currently, different time frames are in effect—from 08:00 to 23:00.
In addition, the sale of alcohol will be completely prohibited on: June 1, Children's Day; September 1, Knowledge Day; and also on the second Saturday of September—Sobriety Day.
Initially, deputies proposed to establish even stricter restrictions—allowing the sale of alcohol only until 20:00. This initiative was not supported by business representatives.
Bars in the center of Yekaterinburg will be prohibited from selling alcohol.
