The Mayor of N URLsk confirmed the arrival of Indian workers at SUBR
Today at 17:15 Indians will come to work in N URLsk. Foreign workers will be employed at the N URLsk Bauxite Mine (SUBR, owned by RUSAL), reports the EAN agency citing N URLsk mayor Svetlana Mironova.
There is a shortage of more than 200 people at SUBR, Mironova stated on her VKontakte page. She also responded to urgent questions from residents, who are concerned about the presence of foreigners—India has a very high rate of sexual assaults.
Svetlana Mironova announced that law enforcement will be responsible for residents’ safety.
“A round-the-clock security post will be organized at the SUBR hostel, and additional security will be provided by police officers.
The most important thing I want to say is that Indian residents are very peaceful and friendly—this is part of their upbringing based on their traditional culture. They are coming to our city and are very eager to work. I believe there will be no conflicts or aggression from their side. Our residents, as before, will be completely safe!” the mayor wrote.
Foreign workers will be informed about Russian culture, and told what is permitted and what is not. An entire team is working to adapt Indian residents to N URLsk, so officials believe there should be no problems in their interaction.
“Activities are being conducted, special handouts and videos have been produced. Escorts knowledgeable in Hindi and Russian will come to N URLsk to work constantly with our migrants,” Mironova added.
Meanwhile, local residents doubt whether Indians will be able to adapt to the Ural climate and are calling for increased salaries for compatriots to prevent high staff turnover. “It used to be difficult to get a job at SUBR,” people commented under Mironova’s post.
At a recent job fair in N URLsk, SUBR HR director Konstantin Malakhov said that the average salary in the mining team is around 150 thousand rubles. Participants in the meeting called the working conditions and the level of company support worthy: subsidies for food, transportation to the workplace, and discounted trips for employees and their families are provided.
“All conditions are created. Come and work,” Malakhov said.
