The shooting near the Big Zlatooust Cathedral begins trial in Yekaterinburg
Today at 12:55, the case of Roman Stadler, accused of shooting near the Big Zlatooust Church, was reviewed yesterday by the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg, reports "Ъ-Ural". The defendant faces up to 7 years in prison.
The man is charged under Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism with a threat of violence to citizens, using weapons) after shooting near the Big Zlatooust Cathedral on Malysheva Street in Yekaterinburg in October 2023.
According to investigators, Roman Stadler fired a blank shot from a traumatic weapon into the air once, then placed the pistol back into his bag. The defendant partly pleaded guilty. Stadler considers the charges unfounded, as he believes he did not pose a threat to those around him.
"I just shot up into the sky outside the club," said Roman Stadler. His lawyer, Natalya Volkova, also insists that the offense committed by her client should be considered administrative rather than criminal.
Currently, Roman Stadler has been released from custody, with a ban on certain actions as a pre-trial measure.
Recall that earlier, a contract soldier from Asbest, Stanislav Ionkin, was sentenced by a military court to 20 years in a strict regime colony. While intoxicated in the "Polygon" nightclub in Kostroma, he fired a rocket launcher during a conflict. A firework detonated in the ceiling, which then caught fire. As a result, 13 people died. After the sentence, the convict asked to be permitted to continue serving in the zone of the special military operation.
