Today at 14:41, Tagil artist Alisa Gorshenina announced on her social media that she was forced to leave Russia.
Gorshenina describes her departure from the country as "sorrow" and "one of the worst scenarios imaginable," according to KP-Yekaterinburg. She stated on Instagram* (*the social network is banned in Russia due to the Mother platform Meta, which has been recognized as extremist in Russia): "I will repeat once more because I know there will be people who will congratulation me, but leaving Russia is a grief for me. I still have not comprehended it, accepted it, or come to terms with it."
Unconfirmed reports suggest that law enforcement pressure influenced her departure. The artist herself noted that the decision was spontaneous, and she took only a suitcase of summer clothes and some money saved for apartment repairs. She has already called on her followers to donate and purchase her works.
Previously, Gorshenina was subject to administrative penalties, including a 10-day arrest, under articles concerning LGBT propaganda* (*an extremist movement banned in Russia), demonstration of extremist symbols, and discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.
She participated in filming a music video for the scandalous group Pussy Riot, which, according to the Telegram channel URALLIVE, contains mockery of the fallen participants of the special military operation.
In early July, a court found Gorshenina guilty of discrediting the Russian army and imposed a fine of 45,000 rubles, according to URALLIVE. During the same days, the Verkh-Isetsky District Court fined another activist and actionist, Polina Ivanova, 40,000 rubles for anti-war agitation. She was accused of supporting a group of students from UrGAH, who "fought" against the symbol of the special operation—the letter Z.
