A sentence was handed down in Yekaterinburg to the "dropper" who stole over 20 million rubles from pensioners.

Today at 10:00 a.m., the Verk-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburg sentenced a courier involved in scam activities who stole more than 20 million rubles in cash from deceived pensioners.

From October to November 2024, the defendant, a 27-year-old previously convicted resident of Artyomovsky, participated in a scheme to defraud pensioners. His responsibilities included traveling to the elderly individuals' residences, taking their money, and then, under the guidance of "curators," depositing the main sum into special bank accounts.

As a result of the criminal activities of the "runner," seven pensioners suffered financial losses totaling approximately 20.5 million rubles. The criminal case was investigated under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed by an organized group or in a particularly large amount). On March 6, six volumes of materials were submitted to the Verk-Isetsky District Court.

The court sentenced the defendant to 8 years of imprisonment in a strict regime colony. The sentence has not yet entered into legal force.

Operational support for this criminal case was provided by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Sverdlovsk Region, in cooperation with colleagues from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Yekaterinburg. Materials related to unidentified co-conspirators have been separated into a separate proceeding.

The Yekaterinburg Police once again urges citizens to be vigilant and not to allow strangers into their homes under any pretext. Elderly relatives should be regularly told about criminal schemes and kept in constant contact with their family members.
