The reason for the departure was revealed by the owner of the shopping center, Andrey Gavrilovsky. According to him, the rental rate was increased to the market level, but "Perekrestok" refused to pay under the new terms.
"They said: 'Yes, the price is market, but we don't want to pay that much.' The contract has been terminated. A different grocery store will open in its place — we already have two applicants willing to meet our conditions," Gavrilovsky told E1.RU.
The final decision on a new tenant will be made within a month.
X5 Group (the management company of "Perekrestok") confirmed that they are negotiating to relocate the store as part of their program.
"We are looking for an alternative location for the supermarket in the "Antei" shopping center," the company noted.
