A Yekaterinburg-based company left a family with children penniless and homeless.
Yekaterinburg residents complained about a construction company that left them without money and housing. One of the families was supposed to be handed over a two-story 110-square-meter house in March, but since November of last year the workers stopped showing up at the site.
The family has two children — a 9-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl. The couple decided to move out of town. To do this they took out a family mortgage to buy a plot in a cottage community in Pervouralsk and to build a house. Now they are all forced to live in the two-room apartment of the family head’s parents.
“My parents sold a room in a small apartment and gave 1.4 million rubles for the down payment. My husband took out a loan for one million. We took out a mortgage — we pay 36,000 rubles a month, another 38,000 for the loan, and we live in my husband’s parents’ apartment. They moved into a dormitory so we could live with the children at their place,” the Yekaterinburg resident told the E1.RU portal.
The man runs a small car repair business — it is the family’s only income. The woman did not work and took care of the children, but now she does night shifts at a marketplace warehouse.
The Yekaterinburg woman signed a contract with LLC “Construction Company ‘Smart’” in June 2024. The total cost of the work was 6.11 million rubles, and the developer received most of that amount. First the family paid 1.84 million of their own money as an advance, then the bank transferred another 4.2 million.
Construction itself started in August, but by November it had completely stalled.
The E1.RU editorial office also contacted the company’s director and owner, Alexei Kulikov. He confirmed that he founded LLC “Smart” and did so together with Andrey Vishnev, but on paper he was listed as the sole owner at first and later transferred everything. According to him, he now has nothing to do with the company. Although the contract with the couple was signed in his name.
In turn, Andrey Vishnev claims that the company is going through “hard times” that began because of a lawsuit filed by one of the clients.
The Yekaterinburg woman sent a pretrial claim demanding termination of the contract. The client calculated that of the 5.4 million rubles paid, work was actually completed for 1.5 million — three acceptance certificates for specific works were drawn up for that amount. Yuliya demands the return of the remaining sum, as well as 3.9 million rubles in penalties.
Earlier it was reported that two glass high-rises would be built on the site of the demolished “Karneol.”
