An expert warned of the risk that major Ural banks could lose their licenses.
Ural banks Sinara (formerly SKB-Bank) and UBRiR risk losing their licenses. Expert Andrey Barkhota believes that because of the specifics of their business model they may face the same risks that befell Tavrichesky Bank, whose license the Central Bank revoked on September 3.
— Expensive funding (high interest on deposits) requires expensive loans. And corporate loans cannot be such — their margins are limited. Therefore, such players are in the risk zone, — the specialist told Izvestia.
According to him, both banks act as sanators for other credit institutions: Gazenergobank is planned to be merged into SKB-Bank by the end of 2028, and VUZ-Bank may join UBRiR by the end of this year.
Such a burden increases the demands on the resilience of the sanators themselves. If problems are detected, the Central Bank may require credit institutions to improve their financial position; in a negative scenario — relieve them of their sanation functions. After that, a transfer of problem assets to larger players or revocation of the license is possible, writes Ura.Ru.
Earlier it was reported that Russians' utility debts were proposed to be transferred to debt collectors.
