The teenagers accused of attacking a coach in Sverdlovsk Oblast told how it all happened.
Teenagers from the settlement of Verkh-Neyvinsky, who became involved in a conflict with cross-country ski coach Alexander Pyatygin, set out their version of events. According to them, the man was the first to show aggression.
The ninth-graders said that on September 1 they came with friends to ride pit bikes near the ski base.
"An unknown man approached my motorcycle, sat down next to it and, without a word, tore off the fuel hose," one of the boys told E1.RU. "When I tried to find out why, he shoved me. I fell along with the bike and pushed him away in response. Then the man picked up a stone and started swinging it."
Later the guys realized it was the local coach Alexander Pyatygin, as his female trainees came up to him. According to S., the coach also tried to damage his motorcycle. As a result, a lot of fuel leaked from one teenager's bike, and the other's hose was damaged. Having calculated the damage, the boys decided to talk to the man about compensation, but, according to them, the situation again escalated into a conflict.
"He was holding a stone and came up to my bike. I took that as a threat and pushed him. At that moment S. arrived, and together we tried to knock the stone out of his hand," D. said.
The scuffle was stopped by Pyatygin's female athletes. The teenagers say they did not film a video, as had been reported earlier, and that they themselves were struck in the stomach, legs and groin.
A few days later both were detained, but after 18 hours were released by decision of the prosecutor's office.
"There is a feeling of pressure: they portray us as thugs on motorcycles, and him as an Honored Master of Sport," D. said.
He added that he studies well, is active in school life and is described by teachers as a non-confrontational student. S., he said, is also active in sports.
Alexander Pyatygin himself refused to comment on the conflict, saying only that everything has been recorded by the police. His son told E1.RU that the teenagers had threatened not only the coach but also his female trainees.
The Investigative Committee of the Sverdlovsk Region reported that a criminal case has been opened in connection with the incident on the charge of "hooliganism committed by a group of persons."
