The Khrysotil hockey club confirmed that the teenager was one of the leaders of his team. "He had been training at our school since 2017, took part in regional and interregional tournaments and was considered one of the best players."
One of the coaches who worked with the young hockey player told journalists that the teenager fell ill immediately after the warm-up. The incident occurred on September 9 at the Khrysotil sports school.
"Nikolai (name changed) was doing an exercise in formation with the other boys. Suddenly he felt unwell, he dropped to his knees and lost his strength. We immediately supported him and handed him over to our nurses," a source told KP-Yekaterinburg. "This is a huge shock for us. Previously the boy had never complained about his health."
The teenager was rushed to intensive care, where doctors fought for his life. However, they were unable to save the young athlete. According to his mother, her son had been playing hockey for nine years.
