A criminal case has been opened against the young "barbecue girls" who roasted marshmallows on the Eternal Flame.

      In Kamensk-Uralsky, the identities of two girls seen in a video roasting marshmallows on the Eternal Flame at the memorial to fallen factory workers have been established. A criminal case has been opened.

      This is how Valery Gorelykh, head of the press service of the Sverdlovsk Main Directorate of the Interior Ministry, commented on the incident.

      "The identities of the suspected young 'barbecue-makers' were established by police officers from the juvenile affairs unit of the Kamensk-Uralsky Department of Internal Affairs, who painstakingly analyzed the video of the incident posted on the Internet. The thrill-seekers and fans of shock content turned out to be fifth-grade pupils of the local gymnasium. Previously neither they nor their families were on any register, and both have parents," Colonel Gorelykh noted.

      In connection with the desecration of a symbol of military glory, the investigative authorities opened a criminal case under Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (rehabilitation of Nazism). All details of the incident and the causes that led to it are currently being established.

      "In addition to the criminal case opened by the investigators, the Interior Ministry has initiated administrative proceedings against the parents of the suspected teenagers under Article 5.35 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (improper upbringing of one's children), and the schoolgirls themselves will be registered with the police juvenile affairs service," Valery Gorelykh added.

      The territorial Department of Internal Affairs will send an official representation to the leadership of the educational institution, where clear shortcomings in the upbringing process were allowed, with the aim of eliminating the causes of such unlawful conduct and intensifying patriotic work with young people.
