
A street in Yekaterinburg will be named after an officer who died during the special military operation.
In Yekaterinburg, one of the streets will be named in honor of Hero of Russia and participant in the special military operation in Ukraine, Ivan Marin. The corresponding order was signed by the city’s head, Alexey Orlov, reports 66.RU.
Ivan Marin Street will appear in the Oktyabrsky District. It will be the first street in the Ural capital to bear the name of a serviceman of the special military operation in Ukraine.
According to Yekaterinburg’s vice mayor Rustam Galyamov, the officer skillfully commanded combat operations, which made it possible to save lives and equipment. How exactly the hero’s name is connected to the Ural capital is not specified in the reports.
Captain Ivan Marin commanded a rocket-artillery garrison. In the zone of the special operation he led a "Grad" divisional unit of the 8th Guards Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District. While withdrawing soldiers from enemy fire, the serviceman suffered severe wounds and on April 26, 2022, died in the hospital.
In 2023 Ivan Marin was posthumously awarded the title Hero of Russia.
