According to "Baza", on the night of September 1 Alexander Cherepanov* (*listed as an extremist and terrorist by Rosfinmonitoring) used a piece of wire to first open the feeding hatch and then the door of his cell and walked out. Two of his cellmates remained inside.
He then went to the cell of his friend Ivan Koryukov* (*listed as an extremist and terrorist by Rosfinmonitoring) and let him out as well.
After walking a few meters to the exercise yard they forced open a door, climbed onto the roof and proceeded along the roofs of the buildings on the detention center’s grounds. Apparently the men got over the fence and then left through the cemetery.
At 02:50 their trail disappeared from the surveillance cameras. Most likely the escapees descended from the roof via a fire escape.
The alarm only went off at four in the morning. Detention center staff searched the grounds but noticed nothing. Only at 10:30, during rounds, was it discovered that two inmates were missing from their cells.
The escaped terrorists were searched for in the vicinity of the Chusovoy Tract; FSIN operatives suspected the men were hiding on the grounds of allotment gardens. Cherepanov* was on the run for a week — he was caught on September 8; Koryukov* managed to hide longer — he was detained on September 15.
