Construction on the site of a private housing area was banned in Zarechny.

      Several blocks of private housing in Zarechny are slated for development. As early as late summer, houses began to be demolished and the site cleared. However, work had to be suspended after ancient artifacts and a cultural layer were found in the ground.

      The site covers 107,600 square meters and is bounded by Bebel and Gotwald streets and the bank of the Iset River. Information about the excavations was forwarded to the regional Office for the State Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites.

      “As a result of archaeological investigations, 11 areas of distribution of the cultural layer were identified. This territory formed and developed as a single residential complex serving the Verkh-Isetsky Plant, and it was decided to combine all the plots into one monument — the cultural heritage object ‘The cultural layer of the city of Yekaterinburg, 18th — early 20th centuries, within the boundaries of the Stary VIZ microdistrict,’ ” E1.RU cites the materials of the historical and cultural expertise.

      The area of the identified cultural layer is 25,400 square meters. Archaeologists found fragments of faience and porcelain tableware, pottery ceramics, and objects made of iron, glass, and domestic animal bone.

      “Carrying out earthworks, construction, land reclamation, economic and other works on the land plot is impossible,” the conclusion specified.

      Earlier it was reported that, for the first time in Yekaterinburg, a five-story building that fell under the KRT program would be demolished.
