A restored Lenin monument was installed in Revda.
The restored monument to the leader of the world proletariat, V.I. Lenin, has been returned to its pedestal in Revda, local outlet "Revda-Info" reports on its Telegram channel. But the pedestal itself is now located in a new place — Lenin Square.
The monument was mounted on the pedestal in the dead of night, under cover of darkness (as the Red Banner group was once removed from the Plotinka in Yekaterinburg). The mayor of Revda explained this as being for the convenience of citizens.
"If the work had been carried out during the day, I think it would have been inconvenient for residents of Revda," Tatyana Klepikova told "Revda-Info."
The Lenin monument was removed from its former location, Victory Square, on August 7, 2024, after an expert examination determined that its pedestal was in an emergency condition and required reconstruction, writes Kommersant-Ural.
In addition, benefactors promised to renovate the square itself and install a light-and-music fountain. But — on the condition that the Revda authorities remove Lenin from there.
The decision by Revda's head, Tatyana Klepikova, to move the monument provoked a protest from the Sverdlovsk branch of the Communist Party (KPRF), which refused to accept the results of the city survey (the majority voted for moving Ilyich and installing a fountain in his place).
Fewer than 3,000 people took part in the vote held on the Gosuslugi portal. The communists noted that far from all elderly people — who more often than others tend to support preserving the Soviet legacy — use that application.
