The lawyer of the former deputy governor of Sverdlovsk Region confirmed his detention after questioning at the regional Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on Monday.
His lawyer, Maria Kirillova, confirmed to URA.RU that law enforcement had detained the former deputy governor of Sverdlovsk Region, Oleg Chemezov.
According to URA.RU, Chemezov is preliminarily suspected under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud). No charges have been filed against him.
"Oleg Chemezov was detained by the Main Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Sverdlovsk Region despite having medical conditions that preclude being held in custody. Everything looks strange and borders on an attempted murder," Kirillova told URA.RU.
The outlet notes that the official representative of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Sverdlovsk Region, Colonel Valeriy Gorelykh, promised to comment on the situation later, when doing so would not harm the investigation.
