A man from Sverdlovsk climbed under a vehicle to fix a wheel on the highway when a passing truck tore his leg off.
On September 29, at the 71st kilometer of the Serov–Ivdel highway a MAZ driver had his leg torn off. He lay down to fix the trailer when another truck ran over his leg.
— The 63-year-old MAZ driver with a trailer loaded with timber was driving to Serov. The mounting of the rear left wheel had loosened. He lay under the trailer and began to repair it; the man's legs were on the roadway, — said the Sverdlovsk Region State Traffic Inspectorate.
A DAF truck drove past, ran over the man and did not stop. Witnesses included the victim's wife and other drivers.
— The MAZ driver, with serious injuries including amputation of the lower leg and a shoulder injury, was taken to the Severouralsk hospital. Thanks to prompt measures, the DAF driver was detained at the 176th kilometer of the Yekaterinburg–Nizhny Tagil–Serov highway in the Kushva area. He turned out to be a 66-year-old resident of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, — the traffic inspectors clarified.
Earlier it was reported that a college student, who had come home from Yekaterinburg for the weekend, fatally struck a pedestrian.
