A woman from Yekaterinburg recognized fellow Russians at a Turkish resort by one detail.
At the Turkish resort of Alanya, Russian tourists have "found" a new way to stand out among holidaymakers from other countries. According to a resident of Yekaterinburg, this season the main "identifier" has become sunflower seeds.
The woman spent her vacation in Alanya from September 16 to 25 and noticed that while last year our fellow countrymen were easy to spot by shopping bags with marketplace logos, this year they have been replaced by packs of sunflower seeds. Many tourists bring the familiar snack with them from Russia and crack them open right on the beach.
"It looks funny, but you can immediately tell which of the holidaymakers is Russian. Out of curiosity I approached people with packs of sunflower seeds and struck up conversations. They all really turned out to be our compatriots," the tourist told URA.RU.
"It's my first time here and it's a delight." A blogger from France compared Yekaterinburg to Singapore.
