Job market saturated: UrFU will cut the number of fee-paying places for several specialties
At Ural Federal University (UrFU), officials are considering reducing the number of tuition-paying places in law and economics programs. This was reported by the university’s acting rector, Ilya Obabkov.
“We are talking about law and economics specialties — they are the ones most often discussed at the ministry. I believe the labor market in these areas is already sufficiently saturated, and it makes sense to encourage applicants to move into more in-demand engineering fields,” Obabkov said on the program “Accent” on OTV.
He also emphasized that the process of reforming universities and aligning them with current trends does not threaten the fundamental foundations of higher education. The reduction in the number of tuition-paying places in the specified areas is planned to take effect as early as the next academic year.
Earlier we wrote that billionaire and entrepreneur Igor Rybakov, who is included in Forbes’ ranking, has enrolled in the postgraduate program at Ural Federal University.
