Alexey Orlov, in an interview with E1.RU, shared that he loves his job, spoke about his achievements during nearly five years as head of the city and about whether he plans to continue his career as mayor. Orlov has held this position since February 2021.
— Like it or not — someone still has to do it. I really love my job, I won't hide it. It's always pleasant to see the results of one's work, the mayor noted.
Among his main achievements, Orlov named the implementation of a transport reform, the improvement of urban spaces and embankments, and the construction of schools No. 40 and No. 41.
— The transport reform was one of the most difficult decisions. The sector was in a deep crisis, and there was a risk of a complete halt of public transport. To prevent that, it was necessary to show courage and be prepared for reputational and financial risks, Orlov emphasized.
Answering a question about the future, the mayor reminded that under the new law the candidate for the head of Yekaterinburg is put forward by the governor and approved by the city duma.
— If the governor decides to propose my candidacy and the deputies support it, I am, of course, ready to continue working and to be of benefit to my native city. There are many plans and tasks ahead. Yekaterinburg is a wonderful city with active residents and responsible businesses that are always ready to help in implementing city projects, Alexey Orlov added.
