In Yekaterinburg, construction of a tunnel across the Iset in the city center has been postponed.
Construction of the tunnel under Kuybysheva Street across the Iset River in Yekaterinburg has been postponed again — for the third time. They now plan to start work next year, URA.RU was told by the city administration's press service.
The project was originally due to launch in February, then in March, but work still had not begun. According to an agency source, the delay is linked to avoiding a transport collapse: the construction would have coincided with track repairs at the intersection of Radishcheva and Moskovskaya streets.
Plans to build the tunnel became known in September 2024. It will be 87 meters long, and cameras, lighting and benches will be installed along it. To carry out the project, utility networks will have to be relocated, including the sewer, water supply, tram tracks, overhead contact lines and street lighting.
