The governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast announced a competition for the post of mayor of Yekaterinburg.
The governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast, Denis Pasler, signed a decree creating a commission to select candidates for the post of mayor of Yekaterinburg. The submission of documents by applicants will run from November 10 to December 10.
"I decree: to create a commission to review candidates for the position of head of Yekaterinburg. Approve: the procedure for receiving proposals on candidates, the list of documents, the commission's rules of procedure, the composition of the commission," Ura.Ru cites the text of the decree.
Control over the implementation of the decree was entrusted to Deputy Governor and head of the governor's and government's office, Sergey Nikonov.
Mayor Alexey Orlov's powers expire on February 9. Due to the entry into force of the law on local self-government, the contest will be held under the new rules. Candidates may be proposed to Pasler by the region's public chamber, political parties represented in the State Duma and the local parliament, the council of municipal formations, and the All-Russian Association for the Development of Local Self-Government.
Earlier, Sverdlovsk deputies approved a new scheme for electing mayors.
