The Prigorodny District Court of Nizhny Tagil found a 40-year-old local resident guilty of murder after he deliberately ran over a woman at a pedestrian crossing.
According to the regional prosecutor’s office, the tragedy occurred on the morning of August 31, 2024. According to the investigation, after an argument with his wife the man decided to commit a crime so that he would be brought to justice. While driving on the Yekaterinburg–Serov road in the settlement of Nikolo-Pavlovskoye, he saw a woman crossing the road at a zebra crossing, sharply increased his speed and deliberately ran her over. The 55-year-old victim died at the scene from her injuries.
The court sentenced the man to 9 years and 11 months’ imprisonment in a strict-regime penal colony. In addition, he is required to pay 1.5 million rubles in compensation for moral damage to the deceased’s son.
