In Yekaterinburg, a blogger accidentally bought a stolen iPhone.
A resident of Yekaterinburg accidentally bought, as it turned out, a stolen iPhone after purchasing it through a popular classifieds website. The incident was recounted by the woman, named Polina, on her Instagram blog (an extremist organization whose activities are banned in Russia).
According to Polina, the ad looked completely harmless: the seller was offering an “ideal” phone in excellent condition, with a screen protector and a case. However, the only way to contact this person was by phone — he did not accept messages and insisted on cash payment.
“I bought it, came home, but couldn’t sign in to iCloud. The phone had no account, nothing. Even after a factory reset it didn’t activate,” the woman said.
Later, at a mobile phone store the serial number revealed that the device was listed as stolen, and the seller stopped responding. Polina noted that the real owner was later found and the conflict was resolved.
